The City of Fort Worth’s Office of Business Diversity is partnering with CH Advisors Inc. to conduct an Availability & Disparity Study that examines the city’s policies and programs for minority- and women-owned business enterprises (M/WBEs).

As a kickoff to this study, a public meeting is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 22, for residents to learn more about the project. The meeting will be held in the Tandy Lecture Hall in the Central Branch of the Fort Worth Library, 500 W. Third St.

RSVP to the Availability & Disparity public meeting.

About the study

The main goal of the study is to examine whether all businesses have equal access to compete for contract opportunities with the City of Fort Worth, and to ensure the city’s contract opportunities are fair and competitive.

In order to do this, the study will look at the availability and utilization of minority- and women-owned businesses by the City of Fort Worth and compare it to the local market for those industries. Data will also be gathered from Census Bureau datasets. Additionally, the consultant will interview city stakeholders and business owners, who will be asked for their feedback on working with the city and will be able to make recommendations.

The study will also collect information about race and gender-based barriers that may exist in the Fort Worth market and will examine factors that are necessary for entrepreneurial success (such as access to business capital, networks, suppliers and more).

Get involved

Fort Worth business owners or stakeholders interested in being part of the study’s anecdotal data collection are encouraged to attend the upcoming public meeting and participate in focus groups that will allow experiences, insights and recommendations to be shared with the study team.

Following the public meeting, CH Advisors Inc. will begin contacting business owners to learn more about their contracts with the City of Fort Worth through small-group interview sessions.

More information about the study can be found on the Disparity Study website.

Questions can also be sent by email or phone to CH Advisors Inc. at 855-692-3529.
