The Fort Worth Police Department’s crime prevention specialists have planned an auto etching event from 9 a.m.-noon Nov. 10 at the Lowe’s parking lot, 3500 N.W. Centre Drive.

FWPD is partnering with the Tarrant Regional Auto Crimes Task Force to provide this free service that permanently marks a vehicle identification number on the windows. This serves as an auto theft deterrent that makes part of a car identifiable by police. Some auto insurance companies provide discounts for vehicles with VIN-etched glass.

In case of inclement weather, the event will be canceled since etching cannot be done in high humidity or rain.
